[Owlissimo-->Veezian] Coaching your child to set & achieve goals

Hi Reader

It's November, my birthday month. Growing up, my birthday was usually during exams, so I hardly celebrated it on the actual day. I remember mugging for O-levels at home on my birthday when a friend, S, called. (Yes, those days when friends actually called to just chat.)

S: Happy birthday, Carol! What are you doing today?

Me: Studying for Geog paper.

One of the best things about growing up is no more exams on birthdays.

As usual, at the beginning of each month, I reviewed my Lifebook this morning. This is where I plan all important categories of my life. 2026 has been going well and I updated some goals and strategies to finish the year on track.

While balancing work and family, I'm gradually rebranding Owlissimo as Veezian with three main areas:

Maths Olympiad Programmes: I've been designing and delivering a curriculum to my students aged 11 to 16. It's been a fulfilling journey implementing the teaching and learning models I've learnt, and witnessing my students' growth.

Youth Talent Development: DSA Interview Prep workshop, and mock interviews for students and young graduates kept me busy on some days. Good news have been streaming in from them.

Peak Performance Coaching: As a certified coach, I joined a CSR progamme to coach young graduates from underprivileged families. My colleagues and I have been coaching them to develop mindset and skills necessary for a good job offer. The 2026 batch have just graduated and we're looking forward to the next batch.

Coaching your child to set and achieve goals

From interacting with other parents, I understand that many face the challenge of guiding their children to balance academics and c0-curricular activities. There is only so much time and energy in a day. I know because I'm a mum of three teenage boys.

As a Certified Improvement and Development Coach, I help parents and children unlock their full potential using proven frameworks.

If you're in Kuala Lumpur this month, join me for an interactive 1-hour workshop designed with practical strategies you can use at home right away:

P.S. Your child sets the goalpost and takes the shot. Our role is to support from the sidelines.

Only when a child takes full ownership of their goal will they be motivated to work towards it.

Is this what the child wants or what I want?

Three pillars

Hi Reader I'm back! For two years, I was immersed in studies -- Master of Education (Mathematics). This is something I've wanted to work on for about 10 years. Finally, I achieved it last June. After graduation, I caught up on reading, home organisation, and supporting my three children in their education. (The boys are already in high school.) Then I shaped the next stage of my business, moving it from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, since I'll be residing in KL for the long term. My...

Hi Reader... Itโ€™s SASMO (Singapore & Asian Schools Math Olympiad) season. At the end of this email, youโ€™ll find the link to sample papers with full solutions. Over the weekend, I held a 1-to-1 training session with my Secondary 3 student (Z), who had attempted part of the sample paper. Z registered through school and approached me for past year papers. Wowโ€ฆ thatโ€™s motivation! In the 1.5-hour session that followed Zโ€™s pace, we covered questions involving: number theory algebraic long division...
